A North Platte man facing additional tax-related charges will now return to court next month after his scheduled appearance Monday was continued.
Mark Haneborg was scheduled to appear in Lincoln County District Court on September 28 in connection with a new criminal case involving allegations of income tax evasion and fraudulent tax returns.
The hearing was continued by agreement of the attorneys. Haneborg is now scheduled to appear in court on October 26.
The case stems from allegations involving Haneborg’s 2022 and 2023 income tax filings.
According to the criminal allegations, Haneborg underreported approximately $547,000 in income in 2022. Prosecutors also allege he failed to file an income tax return for 2023, resulting in approximately $297,000 in additional underreported income.
The state alleges Haneborg owes approximately $83,000 in taxes.
The new case includes one count of income tax evasion and two counts of filing a fraudulent tax return.
Haneborg was arrested in March and previously entered a plea of not guilty. He posted 10% of a $15,000 bond.
The case was transferred from Lincoln County Court to Lincoln County District Court on September 9.
Haneborg has also previously faced tax-related charges. In a separate case, he pleaded no contest to one count of tax evasion and three counts of filing a false income tax return. He was found guilty and ordered to pay fines and forfeit funds to the Nebraska Department of Revenue and Internal Revenue Service.
Haneborg is scheduled to appear in Lincoln County District Court again on October 26. The reason for Monday's continuance was not included in the information currently available.
