Robert Goings, age 77, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died January 29, 2021 in Gothenburg.
He was born August 25, 1943 in Holdrege, Nebraska, son of Merton Edgar and Hazel Irene (Ranz) Goings.
Robert enjoyed building things including building onto his house, he loved helping others with their projects as well. He enjoyed going camping and fishing. Robert was a great mechanic, which he did for John Deere, the UPRR, and Boeing. Bob loved going on his yearly vacation with his wife, Evelyn. He was a member of the Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church in Cozad and loved attending church and spending time around the church.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn of Gothenburg, NE; two daughters, Karen Goings of Cozad, NE and Julie Rashid (Rashad) Hameed of Minnesota; two sons Paul (Carrie) Goings of Omaha, NE and Kevin (Brooklyn) Goings of South Dakota; stepsons, Antonio Dishman Sr. of Gothenburg,NE and Dana (Becky) Dishman of Gothenburg, NE; stepdaughters, Kayleen (Tony) Canas of Cozad, NE and Angie Kruse of Gothenburg, NE; along with 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, along with many extended family and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Sue of 24 years and stepson-in-law Gary Kruse.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am.
Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, February 4, 2021 at 11:00 am with Pastor Donny Halbgewachs officiating.
Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to Meals on Wheels, the Gothenburg Senior Center, or the Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church.
