Lloyd Lyle Speicher (1922-2020)

Lloyd Lyle Speicher, age 97, of St. Louis, Missouri, formerly of North Platte, Nebraska, died on November 23, 2020.  Lloyd was born on November 27, 1922, in Wray, Colorado to Jesse C Speicher and Mary V. “Saville” Speicher.

He graduated from High School in Wray, Colorado then graduated from Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney, Nebraska with a 4 year teaching degree. Later he did 27 graduate hours. Lloyd served in the United States Air Force, as Corporal, serving in World War II. He taught school for 3 years in Holyoke, Colorado and 27 years in the North Platte Public School system as a 6th grade teacher, retiring in 1988. He was a very respected teacher and always remembered his students’ names. Lloyd was a member of the Nazarene Church of North Platte, and the Diamond K Kiwanis Club. He was very active in church ministry as a worship song leader, choir director, Sunday School teacher, and Church Board Member. He loved helping his friends and neighbors, especially mowing their lawns. He served as on call Chaplain for Great Plains Regional Medical Center for about 15 years until he was 90 years of age and served as president of Lincoln County Historical Society for several years, while doing volunteer work for the museum.

Lloyd married Geraldine Day on December 22, 1946. To this union 3 sons were born; David L. Speicher, Daryl E. Speicher and Darwin L. Speicher.   Geraldine passed away in 1980. Then Lloyd married Jennie (Downing) Crow on July 3, 1984.  She passed away in 1991.

Survivors include sons; David L. (Kathy) Speicher, Darwin L. (Cindy) Speicher, stepdaughter; Virginia (Milo) Anderson Bauder, stepsons; Stanley D. (Donna) Crow and Marvin B. (Donita) Crow; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren, and wonderful nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents Jesse C. and Mary V. Speicher, wives Geraldine and Jennie, son Daryl, grandson Christian, brothers Harold (Ruth) Speicher, Bernard (Ilene) Speicher, Gordon (Cathy) Speicher, and sisters Esther (Orville) Winter and Irma (Jack) Sloniker.

Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 29, 2020, at Parkview Community Church of the Nazarene, North Platte, Nebraska with the Rev. David Speicher and Rev. Darwin Speicher officiating. Burial will be at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens in North Platte on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 10:00 A.M.   Memorials are suggested to Parkview Community Church of the Nazarene in North Platte, Nebraska.

Book signing will be from noon to 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte, Nebraska, with family greeting friends from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Adams and Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte is in charge of arrangements.
