#12 Men's Soccer battles Gaels to 3-3 draw

Omaha, Neb. -- After building a 3-0 lead in the opening stanza, #12 Creighton Men's Soccer settled for a 3-3 draw with Saint Mary's College on Thursday, September 10. Following Thursday's action the Bluejays moved to 5-0-2 on the season, while Saint Mary's is now 1-4-2.

The Bluejays got on the board first in the 6th minute as freshman Carter Tavares sent a pass from sophomore Ayden Kokoszka with 5:44 on the clock.

Senior Matthew Reed extended the Creighton edge to 2-0 by converting a penalty kick in the 19th minute (18:39), then junior Angel Lopez made it 3-0 at the 29:00 mark as he finished a pass from freshman Aaron Deppe.

The match went to half with the Bluejays holding a 3-0 edge.

Saint Mary's rallied in the second half, getting an unassisted goal from Carl Emil Lauridsen in the 70th minute (69:18), followed by a penalty kick from Cameron Kobey with 71:25 on the clock.

The Gaels punched in the equalizer in the 80th minute (79:49) as Henry Beatty punched in his first goal of the season with assists from Lauridsen and Kobey.

Creighton closed the match with an 18-10 edge on shots, including a 10-5 advantage in the second half.

The Jays return to the pitch on Sunday, September 13 against Yale at 4:00 pm in Morrison Stadium.
