Be Responsi-Bull: North Platte Program Offers $55 Spay and Neuter for Pitbulls This October

Posted Oct 10, 2025 12:30 PM

October is National Pitbull Awareness Month. Pitbulls are an often misunderstood dog, and National Pitbull Awareness Month is meant to bring attention to and a better understanding.

Pitbull's are not an official breed, but an umbrella term reported to contain Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier and American Pitbull Terrier.  Breeds such as Rottweilers and Dobermans are sometimes lumped in as a "bully," as well. Some people think pits are inherently aggressive and dangerous. This is a myth and aggression is not a pit personality.  With proper socialization and training, Pitbull's make wonderful family pets. Pitbull's are loyal and friendly.

Pitbull's are the dog most often surrendered to animal shelters and they are the most often euthanized dog. Surrender and euthanasia are not usually a fault of the dog, but because of irresponsible pet ownership.

To fight these terrible statistics, Paws-itive Partners is sponsoring Be Responsi-Bull and helping people spay/neuter Pitbull's. Paws-itive Partners is spaying and neutering Pitbull's at the cost of only $55. This offer applies to pits in the North Platte area and signing up for Be Responsi-Bull must be before the end of October. If pet owners have checked veterinary fees lately, they will see $55 is a great opportunity to save money.

Pitbull owners utilizing Be Responsi-Bull receive a new collar for their dog. Their name will be entered into a drawing for a $200 cash price. If you have questions about Be Responsi-Bull or to sign your pit up to spay/neuter, call 308-530-1516 or 308-650-PAWS. Sign-up is time limited.
