Marie Betty Reichert (1934-2026)

Marie was born August 27, 1934, to Edward and Bertha Sindelar Janecek in North Platte where she grew up.  She graduated from North Platte High School in 1952 then worked as a secretary at the high school for five years before going to work for Rittner Insurance as their secretary.

On June 14, 1962, Marie was united in marriage to Dale C. Reichert in North Platte.  They made their home in North Platte where Dale owned and operated Hank's TV and Marie worked with him.  After selling the business in '85 the couple moved to Clovis, New Mexico the following year where they built and operated a Super 8 Motel.  After seven years they sold the motel and moved to Brownwood, Texas, where they owned a large apartment complex, Wayside Apartments.  

They sold the Wayside in 2006 and retired to Sierra Vista, Arizona.  They eventually moved to St. George, Utah for a few years then returned to North Platte in 2013.  Marie had been a member of B.P.W. for several years, taught Sunday School at the Methodist Church and she liked to bowl. Marie was active in 4-H and Extension Clubs wherever she went. 

She leaves behind her daughters, Corrine VandenBerg, of Pine, AZ, Sheryl Reichert, of San Diego, CA, and Marcia (Patrick) Stamm, of Middlebrook, VA; grandchildren, Ashley Malko (Ralph), Richard Charleston II (Anika), Zachary Stamm, Jacob Stamm, Sophia Stamm, Dirk VandenBerg Jr. (Almeda), and Ryan VandenBerg; great-granddaughter, Sienna Malko; as well as all of her beloved nieces, nephews and extended family.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; her parents, Ed Sr. and Bertha Janecek; sisters, Bertha Newtson and Ellen Schick; brothers, Arnold, Victor, Milo, Chester, Edward, Jr. and Joseph Janecek; and son-in-law, Dirk VandenBerg, Sr.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Odean Colonial Chapel with Pastor Mark Baldwin officiating. Visitation will be the day of service prior to the service. Burial will follow at Gothenburg Cemetery. Odean Colonial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at odeanchapel.com
