KEARNEY, Neb.-Police in Kearney are investigating after a man was shot during a disturbance.
According to police, officers responded to the area of the 800 block of W. 27th St. at approximately 2:15 a.m. to investigate a report of possible gunshots.
Police said a short time later, officers received a call from C.H.I. Good Samaritan Hospital that a male subject, 20, had presented to the emergency department with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was walking around the 800 block of W. 27th St. when he was approached by five black males in a light-colored four-door car.
Police said a a physical altercation took place involving multiple subjects and, during the altercation, a handgun was discharged several times, striking the victim one time in the lower leg.
Police said witnesses reported that following the shooting, the suspects departed southbound on 9th Ave. in a light-colored four-door car.
The investigation is ongoing.
