Lela Elizabeth Remus (1930-2021)

     Lela Elizabeth Remus, age 90, of North Platte, Nebraska died at Linden Court in North Platte on July 7, 2021.
     Lela was born on September 10, 1930 to Leo and Nora (Andrew) Dale in North Platte where she grew up.  She graduated from North Platte High School in 1947.
     On July 19, 1947, Lela was united in marriage to Grant LaVern Remus in North Platte, Nebraska.  The couple moved to a newly purchased ranch at Wellfleet, Nebraska and later their children, Sheri & Jerry, were born.  The Remus Family moved again in 1956, this time to his parents' ranch in Wellfleet.  Lela and Grant were active in the Wellfleet community and were members of the Community Club and Methodist Church.  After retiring in 1989, the couple moved to North Platte, Nebraska.
     Lela enjoyed ranch life and kept a daily journal of the going ons at the ranch.  If something was broken and needed parts, she would be the one to go and get the parts.  Lela was a hard worker and a good cook.  Her fried bread, cinnamon rolls and chocolate upside down cake were family favorites.  Lela loved her grandkids and like playing bridge.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant her parents, Leo and Nora Dale; son-in-law, Ron Bourne; brothers, Harold, Lester and Richard Dale; sisters, Anna May Peters and Ruth Stout; and brothers-in-law, Lawrence Peters, Howard Stout, Gene Piernicki, and Loran Remus.
     Lela is survived by her children, Sheri Bourne and Jerry (Peggy) Remus, all of North Platte, Nebraska; grandchildren, Garod (Danielle) Remus, Michelle (John) Bourne Faulkner, Pamela Bourne, Carrie Bourne, and Stacee (Randy) Baker; great-grandchildren, Wyat, Gage, Parker, Harrison, Jusdon, Meranda, Kayla, Savanah, Randall, Grace, Treyton, and Ben; her sister, marlen Piernicki of Holdrege, Nebraska; sisters-in-law Toni Dale, Muriel (Carl) Younkers, Polly Dale, and Bette Remus; brother-in-law, Kurt Remus; and many other family members.
     Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 12, 2021 in the Wellfleet Cemetery, Wellfleet, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. Douglas A. Delp officiating.  The casket will be closed.  The memorial book may be signed online at odeanchapel.com, at the graveside service, or at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore in North Platte, NE, which is in charge of arrangements.
     Visitation will be on Sunday, July 11, 2021 from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials are to LCRA (Loess Canyons Rangeland Alliance), a coalition of private land owners designed to improve rangelands for the future.
