Nebraska DAR elects state leadership

The Nebraska Society of the Daughters of the American Revolutions is pleased to announce that Candace J. Cain of Burwell has been elected the 65th Nebraska State Regent for the society.   Cain is a member of the Loup Trail Chapter in Burwell that celebrated its 45th anniversary with the National Society in 2020.  She is the first Nebraska State Regent elected from this chapter as well as the first to be elected by a digital election for the organization.

STATE CHAPLAIN, Beverly Schuele of Cedar Rapids 

STATE RECORDING SECRETARY, Dr. Grace Ann Petersen of Chadron

STATE CORRESPONDING SECRETARY, Debra Miner of Bellevue

STATE ORGANIZING SECRETARY, Ann Cox of Omaha

STATE TREASURER,  Lynda Heiden of Lincoln

STATE REGISTRAR, Margaret “Diane” Dice of Omaha

STATE HISTORIAN, Sharon Fehringer of Sidney

STATE LIBRARIAN, LeAnn Rowse of Burwell. 

     Cain and Shavlik were installed into office on June 28th 2020 during the NSDAR Digital Congress.   Other officer took the oath of office on April 4th  and August 8th, 2020.     

     Each Nebraska State Regent, has the opportunity to select projects during her term that honor the mission of DAR that included honoring God, Home, and Country.  The projects for the Cain Administration include:  Honoring the 100th Anniversary of Nebraska’s Big Rodeo with a Nebraska State Historical Society marker; remembering the 150th Anniversary of Fort Hartsuff Nebraska State Historical Park; preserving the Halsey National Forest DAR Penny Pines in their 80th anniversary; reaching out to 4th graders across the state to support Nebraska history education in the schools; and encouraging goal of increasing membership in the Nebraska DAR.    The grassroots work of DAR volunteers promotes the organization's objectives of historic preservation, education, and patriotism.   The common bond of DAR members is a lineal descent from patriots of the American Revolution – any woman, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove this lineage is eligible to join.  The Nebraska Society of the NSDAR has 27 chapters across the state of Nebraska.   If you are interested in the DAR please go to: https://www.dar.org/national-society/become-member/membership-interest-form.
