Doris (Miller) Parrish of North Platte, NE, peacefully passed away on January 16, 2024, in Shanks, WV, surrounded by the love of family and friends. She was 95 years old.
Doris was born May 28, 1928, at Wellfleet, NE, on the homestead of her parents, Andrew and Della Miller. She grew up with her six brothers and sisters on the family farm in Ingham, NE.
Doris married Donald Parrish on December 17, 1947 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Platte. Together, they made homes in North Platte; Denver, CO; Casper, WY; York, NE; Carlsbad, NM; Riverton, WY; and Ogallala, NE.
Besides being a homemaker, Doris worked for McDonalds Clothing Store and was Assistant Manager for many years. Before moving back to North Platte for their retirement, Don and Doris owned Ogallala Nursery for several years.
Family was everything to Doris. She found so much joy in being with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When her children were growing up, the family spent time outdoors camping, fishing, and hunting for rocks and arrowheads.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Della; her husband of 72 years, Donald; daughter-in-law, Karen Parrish; four of her siblings, Mildred (Cecil) Taylor, Leona (Russell) DeVol, Thelma (Chester) Sundstrom, and Melvin (Maurine) Miller; and sister-in-law, Shirley Miller.
Doris is survived by her children, Lynn of Overland Park, KS, Cindy (Clay) Trover of Shanks, WV, and Dorene (Scott) McIntyre of Cheyenne, WY; 9 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; siblings Lyle Miller and Lloyd (Peggy) Miller; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, January 25, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. The memorial book may be signed online at odeanchapel.com or at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.
