Marilyn Joyce Tatman was reunited with her heavenly father, her dad, mom and sister Cheryl on December 26, 2023 in North Platte, NE.

Marilyn Joyce Haney was born on February 28th 1940 in Kearney, Nebraska to Richard and Helen Haney. She had two siblings, Donald and Cheryl. Cheryl passed away at a young age, but a strong connection to her was always present with Joyce. Don and Joyce always stayed in touch calling and visiting each other. The importance of family was instilled in Joyce.

Joyce was united in marriage to Larry Joe Tatman on a snowy day in April 1958 in Kearney, Nebraska. Their 65 years together stood the test of time. Love, children, business owners, partners in every way. The biggest adventure they had was starting a business from scratch. Larry’s Radiator and then Larry’s RV. Maybe it should have been called Joyce’s RV, as she was responsible for handling all the bookwork, licenses, payroll, taxes, etc . She was proud of their business and proud of her work that helped it be successful. She manned her desk until just a few months before her passing.

Joyce and Larry had two children. Laurie Ann was born in 1959 in North Platte, Ne. Laurie and her mother were two peas in a pod. They did many things together including bowling…. Go Cedarbugs.... shopping, country drives with their  furbabies, and just enjoying each other’s company. Kandi Kay was born in 1968 also in North Platte. Joyce had her work cut out for her with Kandi (wooden spoons were always visible) but they formed a deep bond rooted in love, family, and togetherness. They enjoyed Sunday family nights with malts and popcorn and Disney movies and the yearly going back to school shopping sprees and her dog grandchildren.  After an unfortunate set of events, Crystal Lea and Jeffrey Lynn Dyer became part of Joyce’s family. She loved them and cared for them as any mother would.

Joyce LOVED Christmas.  She was so proud of her award winning Christmas displays. It wasn’t so much about the awards as it was the cars stopping by and the kids getting out to take it all in.  Her family could always count on the words in January, “Do you have a Christmas list for me yet?!”

It is impossible to sum up what any person meant to their family, to friends, to society in general in a few sentences. Joyce was many things to many people but one word helps paint the picture of what Joyce was. She was THERE.

Joyce was many things. Daughter, Wife, Mother, Friend….but mostly she was THERE!

She was always there. No matter what. She was there for her family, she was there for her friends, she was there for the animals, Joyce was just THERE!  Quiet and always in the background, she was THERE.  Like a rock.

Joyce was happiest when she was giving to others and helping others.  She’s going to be very missed.

Survivors to navigate this world without her include her husband of 65 years Larry Tatman; daughters Laurie Tatman and Kandi (Brian) Foster, Crystal Anderson and Jeff (Jeanine) Dyer, brother Don (Doris) Haney,  3 grandchildren and 4 great grand-children, and special friend Toby Parsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Cheryl and brother in law Harold Dyer.
