Verna M. Miller, 96, of North Platte, NE passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Great Plains Health Hospital.

She was born on July 15, 1925 in Dickens, NE the daughter of Maurice and Verna (Demilt) Fitch.
Verna graduated from North Platte High School in 1943 with a teacher certificate, and went on to teach in Ash Grove country school.  She married Melvin A. Miller on October 27, 1945 in Oberlin, KS and together they had three children.  She then worked alongside her husband on the family farm until his passing in 2009.  Verna enjoyed volunteering and could be seen every Monday at the Thrift Center.  She was a member of the Sunshine Extension Club for over 70 years.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church, and attended Parkview Nazarene Church along with her son and family.  Verna loved her family and especially enjoyed time with all of her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish Verna’s memory are her children, Cheryll D. Wright (Jack) of Conway, AR, Rodney M. Miller (Debbie) of North Platte, and Gary A. Miller (Amy) of North Platte; grandchildren, Tracy Wright (Cindee), Tami Blakeman (Troy), Troy, Timothy and Todd Wright, Mike Miller (Christy), John Miller (Jodi), Andy Miller (Dawn), Lori Mau (Chad), Emily Frey (Ryne), Justin Eshleman (Kenzie), and Corey Eshleman; great-grandchildren, Tayler Wright (Roseanne), Carlee, Caytee and Tyce Wright, Brittany Witham (Johnny), Brianna Clary (Jason), Allyson Wright, Caitlyn Reed, T.J. Wright, Micah Miller (Shayla), Tanner Miller (Shaylee), Jaden Miller (Brianna), Myah, Carissa and Midgey Ramos, Gage, Caden and Allie Miller, Cooper Mau, and Mason Hoover; 20 great-greatgrandchildren; sister, Barbara Baxley (Charles) of S.C.; brothers-in-law, Lyle and Lloyd Miller both of North Platte; sister-in-law, Doris Parrish of W.VA.; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Melvin; grandson, Terry Andrew; great-grandson, Noah; great-great-grandson, Tyler Andrew; brother, Merlin Fitch; and sister, Verleta Valcoure.

 Viewing will be on Thursday, April 28th from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel and on Friday, April 29th  Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Parkview Nazarene Church with Pastor James Trippett officiating.  Burial will follow at Wellfleet Cemetery.  Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hope Embraced (hopeembracednp.com).  Online condolences and sharing of memories may be expressed to the family at www.carpentermemorial.com.
