The North Platte High School IronDawgs powerlifting team competed Saturday at Lexington. Nearly 300 competitors from 9 schools competed, with NPHS coming away with the third place team trophies in both the Boy's Division and the Co-Ed Division. Seth Penn and Grace Wilke were individual champions in their respective weight divisions.

Coach Arttie Parker said he was impressed with the effort from everyone. "Overall, the lifters set 47 personal records, with a lot of our kids competing in their very first meet. This is always an eye-opener for our new athletes, and I was very happy to see how they stepped up. There were a lot of top-notch competitors at this meet, with teams we don't always see when we travel to Creighton and Niobrara-Verdigre."
Coach Parker also expressed appreciation for the Lexington High Powerlifting team for putting on a great event.Up next, qualified lifters will compete at the State RAW Tournament in two weeks, before returning home to compete on February 8 in a dual against Niobrara-Verdigre. That will be at Adams Middle School starting at noon.
