STANTON, Neb. (AP) — Authorities say a driver died after his sport utility vehicle crashed off a rural road in northeast Nebraska.

The Norfolk Daily News reports that a passer-by spotted the wreckage just after 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, about 7 miles (11.3 kilometers) north of Stanton. The Stanton County Sheriff's Office says the southbound SUV ran off the roadway and rolled several times, ejecting the driver. It came to rest atop him.

Sheriff Mike Unger identified the driver as 24-year-old Devon Thelen, who lived in rural Stanton.
