The North Platte Police Department has issued a warning to citizens after receiving reports of suspicious persons posing as Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) employees.

The department made the following post on their Facebook page:

The North Platte Police Department has been made aware of some reports of suspicious activity. It has been reported that this morning, two males representing themselves as working for DHHS attempted to remove a child from their parent. The parent became suspicious of their story, no force was used against them, and the parent used good judgement and the police were contacted as soon as it was safe to do so. Our department has been in contact with DHHS and they are aware of the situation. An investigator has been assigned to work on this and we will update the public as new information comes to light.

We would like to remind everyone to make sure to always pay attention to their surroundings, keep a close eye on your children, and to report any suspicious activity, vehicles, and/or persons. When in doubt, our dispatchers and police officers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our number is 911 or 308-535-6789
