Denver man taken into custody after NP Police respond to shots fired call

A Denver man has been taken into custody after he allegedly fired shots within the city limits of North Platte.


At around 7:22 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to the report of gunshots in the 2900 block of South Jeffers Street.


Officer Beth Kerr says officers investigated and were able to determine where they thought the shots had come from.


Officers made contact with 31-year-old Jorge Sarandinqua-Alpizar and also reportedly located spent shell casings and a handgun in his vicinity.


Following further investigation, officers determined there was probable cause to arrest Sarandinqua-Alpizar on suspicion of use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, terroristic threats and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.


Police say Sarandinqua-Alpizar had shot out of a window twice , but had caused no damage or injury.


Officer Kerr says Sarandinqua-Alpizar was placed into Emergency Protective Custody and transported to Great Plains Health for evaluation.
