David A. Kelley, age 65, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 21, 2109 at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born on January 23, 1954 in North Platte to Charles and Maxine (Hunter) Kelley. He grew up in North Platte, where he met and wed Shannon Lang on August 20, 1971 and graduated with the North Platte High School Class of 1972.
David was a hard worker and took pride in his jobs. From helping out on his grandparents' farm to working at Allen's Self Service, then Whitaker's Furniture and even driving for he parents at Hi-Line Transfer. In 1979, he hired on at Union Pacific Railroad as a truck driver for Maintenance of Way, retiring after 34+ years in 2015.
Not one to sit still, David loved hunting and fishing, watching all sports, was an avid golfer (he & his golf partner won their league this summer!, enjoyed playing cards and gambling. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2839, where he was a past president. One of his greatest loves was softball. Whether he was watching his loved ones play or playing himself, he enjoyed the atmosphere and built lifelong friendships through his love of the game. Even with all that going on, he always made time to be there to support his grandchildren and all of their activities. David will best be remembered for his sense of humor, knowing how to tell the best jokes and loving with his whole heart. With the birth of his only granddaughter, he was so excited that he was able to add a 'cheerleader' to his 'basketball team' of grandsons!
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon of North Platte; children, Lorie (Bobby) Norton, Terry (Melissa) Kelley all of North Platte, and Jennifer (Phil) Monjaras of Omaha, Nebraska; his sisters, Sandra Dagsen of West Jordan, Utah and Diane (Larry) Biss all of North Platte; a brother, Doug (Theresa) Kelley of North Platte; six grandchildren, Connor (Shelby) Norton, Hunter (Morgan Baker) and Carter Kelley, Ethan Northon, and Larsen and Camila Monjaras; his aunt, Mary Lindenmuth of Pueblo, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews; other special family members and friends; and David's favorite family member, Willow, his dog.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, 421 West 4th Street in North Platte, with Pastor Job Vigil officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, south of North Platte. The family requests casual or camo attire. There will be a closed casket, those wishing to sign the register book may do so from noon to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which in in charge of arrangements.
