Car driver dies after colliding with truck near Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Authorities say a car driver died after his vehicle collided with a truck just north of the Lincoln Airport.


The crash was reported a little before 3 p.m. Monday. The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office says 87-year-old Richard Gardner, of Seward, was heading north when he didn't halt for a red light and was struck by the eastbound truck on U.S. Highway 34. He was pronounced dead at the scene.


The sheriff's office says the truck driver and his passenger were not injured. The driver's been identified as 69-year-old Dale Nobbman, of Pleasant Dale.
