
Duane Ruby, 63, of Lisco, Nebraska, died at Great Plains Health on Saturday, July 18, 2020.
Duane was born to Thomas Ruby, Sr. and Carmel Ruby at Denver, Colorado, on December 4, 1956. He grew up in Denver and Grand Valley, where he graduated from high school, then worked as a handyman, drove a truck and later sold real estate in Denver. Duane was also the caretaker for his dad until his passing then his own health started to decline. In 2017 Duane moved to Lisco where he opened and operated a popular restaurant, The Roost, which he ran until a fire caused him to close.
Duane enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Gold Panning of America. He was also a member of Parents Without Partners and the Jaycees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas, Sr. and Carmel Ruby.
Duane is survived by his son, Jacob Ruby, of Norfolk, Virginia; brothers, Thomas, Jr. (Kristie) Ruby, of Littleton, Colorado and Lee (Ruth) Ruby, of Conifer, Colorado; sisters, Joy Schwab and Doreen Ruby, of Lochbuie, Colorado, and Lori Meuli, of Wrangell, Alaska; as well as many other family members.
