LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Omaha police have captured an inmate who didn't return from a job hunt in Lincoln.

Anthony Durand had been given permission to leave the state's Community Corrections Center-Lincoln on Jan. 6, the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said. But he didn't return. The department said he'd managed to remove the monitoring device he was wearing.

He was found by Omaha officers Wednesday and taken into custody, the department said.

Durand started serving his three-year prison sentence on Sept. 18 last year. He'd been charged with methamphetamine possession, theft and operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest.

Inmates at the center are allowed to participate in work opportunities, attend school and religious services with prior approval and without direct supervision.

WICHITA, KAN. (AP) — A Kansas man has been charged with fatally stabbing his sister's ex-boyfriend during a Wichita fight.

Morgan Prager, 24, Pittsburg, Kansas, made his first appearance Wednesday in Sedgwick County District Court on charges of second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is jailed on $250,000 bond.

Wichita police say officers responded Saturday to an assault call and found 19-year-old Vincent Venturella suffering from a severe neck laceration. Police say the men had fought about Prager's sister. Venturella died Monday night.

Prager was arrested in Pittsburg. Kansas Department of Corrections records show that he had been discharged in December from community corrections after previous convictions for theft and criminal possession of a firearm in Wyandotte County.
