NORTH PLATTE-Residents of North Platte will have some decisions to make in the May primary when it comes to electing a new mayor.
On Wednesday, John Hales announced his candidacy for the post currently held by Dwight Livingston who announced he will not be running for re-election.
Hales retired as the Vice President of the North Platte Area Chamber and Development Corporation, after working for years in the grocery and office supply businesses.
Hales will be on the ballot in May along with North Platte City Councilman Andrew Lee, Great Plains Health's Brandon Keliher and local businessman Lonnie Parsons.
