Ilene G. Rockwell, age 90, died February 4, 2020 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska. She was born on a farm east of Stockville, Nebraska on May 18, 1929 to Fred "Ed" and Dora (Johnson) Weiss.
Ilene graduated from Stockville High School in 1946. She worked in the Frontier County Courthouse in the County Treasurers Office until January 1955 when she moved to North Platte, Nebraska. Ilene then started working in the Lincoln County Treasurers Office for many years. She was elected and served 9 years as the Lincoln County Treasurer.
On October 8, 1972, she married Buford Claire Rockwell in Curtis, Nebraska. In September of 1975, they adopted a son, Kim Lee.
Survivors include her husband, Buford Rockwell and her son, Kim (Lorena) Rockwell, both of North Platte; grandchildren, Brandon, Tanner, Shelby, Kyler, Kaiden, and Aliyah; a great-grandchild, Kyle; a sister, Lavinna Banzhaf of Eustis, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Sharon Banzhaf and Velma Ressequie; nephews Randy Banzhaf, Darin Foran, Dennis Ressiquie, Danny Ressiquie, and Joe Banzhaf; brothers-in law Don Banzhaf, Don Resseguie, Joseph Jackson, and Joe Banzhaf.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, 1616 West B Street in North Platte, with Pastor Bill Williams presiding. Burial will follow in the Arnold City Cemetery in Arnold, Nebraska. Visitation will be on Friday, February 7, 2020 from 12;00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
