Judith Faye Colborn, 76, of North Platte passed away February 5, 2020 at her home.

Judith was born on October 10, 1943 in Dallas, TX to Lewis and Cleo (Honey) Armentrout.

On December 31, 1975 she married Mark W. Colborn in Lincoln. The two made their home in North Platte where Judith worked at the North Platte Telegraph as a receptionist/switchboard operator/and cashier for almost 40 years.

Judith’s hobbies included reading, especially non-fiction, music (early ‘50’s and country gold ‘60’s) and some travel.

Survivors include her sons, Bill (Viola) Hunting of Sacramento, CA, Steven (Patricia) Colborn of Sandy, Utah, and Lee (Cristina) Colborn of Colorado Springs, CO; and a daughter, Joan (Kevin) Poole of Elmwood; grandchildren, Brian, Brad, Mark, Christopher, Ashley, Richard, Rachel, Stacy, Jason, and Katrina; three great-grandchildren, Emily, Maggie, and Madeline; brother, Robert (Deborah) Armentrout; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Wally Armentrout and Mark Armentrout.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2020 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Pastor Harold Rhea and Job Vigil officiating. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Ponce (1947-2020)

Dorothy Ponce, 72, of North Platte, went to her heavenly home February 9, 2020, at Great Plains Health surrounded by her family.

Dorothy was born February 13, 1947 to Seferino and Helena (Luna) Martinez in North Platte, Nebraska. She grew up in North Platte and attended school here. On January 5, 1967 Dorothy married Robert Ponce in Kileen, TX. When Robert was sent to Vietnam, Dorothy returned to North Platte to be close to family. After his discharge, Robert returned to his family in North Platte.

Dorothy worked at Goodall’s in Ogallala while Robert was in the service. She also worked at the Pawnee Hotel, Centennial Park, Chancellor Place, and Aspen Park. Dorothy was a Sunday School Teacher who was an excellent wife, and loving mother. She loved gardening, working outside, dancing, and listening to music. She was known to everyone as Aunt Dorothy. She was known for her big Christmas parties and she loved buying gifts for everyone. She was very loving to her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her children’s friends. She was a devoted Christian who shared her faith with others and devotedly prayed for others.

Survivors include her husband, Robert of North Platte; children, Robert Jr. Ponce of North Platte, Philip Joseph (Carmen) Ponce of Council Bluffs, IA, and Christina (Russell) Brown of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren, Scott Ponce, Seth (Sharon) Ponce, Elizabeth Ponce, Ashley Brown, Justin Brown, and Kaylie Brown; brother, Jessie (Vicky) Martinez of North Platte; sisters, Ramona (Rick) Clark and Julia (Bob) Burks all of North Platte; numerous other family members; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws Jess and Jennie Ponce; grandson, Cameron Allen; and brothers, Sibbio, Crespin, Domingo, Benedict, and Simon.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Brett Hatheway officiating. Burial will follow at North Platte Cemetery. Visitation will be noon – 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
