NP man accused of holding woman, two children against their will with gun, knives

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-A North Platte man has been arrested on allegations that he assaulted a woman and held her and two children against their will.

According to North Platte police, officers responded to a disturbance in the 1200 block of West 3rd Street at around 5:19 a.m. on February 22, 2020.

Police say officers located 42-year-old Eric Adams, an adult female and two minor children.

The three alleged victims reported that Adams woke them up screaming and making threats to kill the adult female.

Police say Adams was highly paranoid and would not let anyone leave the residence. He was also said to be in possession of a loaded handgun and two large knives during the disturbance.

During the incident, police say the victim reported that Adams was swinging the knife around and threatening to destroy the female's belongings. Police say this terrorized the victims.

Following a preliminary investigation, officers determined there was probable cause to arrest Adams on suspicion of 3rd-degree domestic assault (threats, 1st-degree false imprisonment, terroristic threats, and two counts of child abuse.

Adams was jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center pending an appearance in County Court.
