Middle school students compete in YES competition at NPCC

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-Middle school students from Sidney try to build erosion control structures in 15 minutes using coin wrappers, rice, broccoli, rocks, popsicle sticks and other items on a simulated landscape. It was all part of the Young Environmental Stewards Competition hosted by North Platte Community College on Tuesday.

More than 20 middle school students from Valentine and Sidney tested their knowledge and skills in the contest, which was similar to a quiz bowl with a focus on environmental issues.
