UPDATED: North Platte Catholic Schools say 'school is in session'

North Platte Catholic Schools officials have now announced they will be temporarily closing their schools.

They posted the following message on their Facebook page:

NO SCHOOL - Please refer to Sycamore for more information.

The COVID-19 virus is ever-changing. At this time, the West Central District has NO confirmed cases of the virus however in response to community health and safety concerns regarding the COVID-19 virus, the decision has been made to close the North Platte Catholic Schools for the next week (March 16th - March 20th). This includes all scheduled school and non-school events, practices, and competitions.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-While numerous public schools across the state announce closures, North Platte Catholic School say it will be business as usual.

Officials announced Sunday that school will stay in session and officials will continue to monitor the COVID-19 outbreak.

Here is the message posted on Facebook by North Platte Catholic Schools:

"COVID-19 3-15-20 - UPDATESchool WILL BE in SessionPlease refer to Sycamore for details.....

Please know that the Superintendent of our schools and top administration have been closely monitoring COVID-19 the last few days and continue to do so today.They are in constant contact with the Nebraska Department of Education - Public Health -- ESU-16.

As everyone understands, policies and procedures are changing on an hourly basis.Any updates pertaining to our school will be sent out via Sycamore, the School Beacon and social media.

The health and safety of our staff and students is the number one priority."
