Dear Parents and Patrons
Hershey Public Schools is monitoring the developing information related to the spread of COVID-19 (commonly referred to as the coronavirus). To date, we are aware of COVID-19 cases in Nebraska and the multiple school districts that have closed across the state.
Hershey Public Schools has policies and procedures in place and we are confident that we are prepared to respond to any outbreak of communicable disease that may occur. We will also be working with the West Central District Health Department and the Nebraska Department of Education on this situation. Should COVID-19 interfere with the district’s ordinary operations or schedule, you will be provided notice over school messenger, social media and the regular news media. It may be prudent for you to have a plan in place in the event school is closed for a prolonged amount of time.
We encourage you to remain informed about the spread of the coronavirus and would recommend that you visit the website for the Department of Health and Human Services, found here, for further information as it develops. We would also encourage you to use this opportunity to remind your children of the importance of getting rest, staying hydrated and washing hands, especially during cold and flu season.
If you suspect that your child is ill, please keep them home from school.
For convenience, we’ve produced the following links, which include Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, West Central District Health Department and the CDC.
Educationally,
Jane Davis
Superintendent
