Evelyn Heath, age 84, of Farnam, Nebraska died on Saturday, March 17, 2020 at her home in Farnam, NE.
Evelyn was born on December 30, 1935 in Farnam, Nebraska, the daughter of Earl F. and Mildred E. (Hicks) Edson. Evelyn grew up in the Farnam area and graduated from Farnam High and then attended school at Kearney Teachers College for Normal School in Kearney, Nebraska. She then started teaching at several different schools, including Farnam, District 68 south of Gothenburg, Stockville and Hershey, all in Nebraska. Evelyn married Don Heath on June 22, 1958. They lived in Farnam and she taught third and fourth grade for five years. They moved to the farm eleven miles south of Farnam in 1960. Their son, Galen Eugene, was born in 1966. She was a busy farm wife and mother, and very involved in Galen's activities. She went back to teaching again in 1968 and continued teaching and substitute teaching until 2001. The couple retired and moved into Farnam. Evelyn was a member of the Silver Dollar Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Neighborhood Bible Study.
Survivors include her son, Galen (Cory) Heath of Farnam, Nebraska; one grandchild, Dillion Heath; and a sister, Audrey (Ron) Rousey of North Platte, Nebraska.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Heath; her parents; and a sister, Lois Morrison
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Farnam American Legion Auxiliary.
