NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-A 27-year -old North Platte man was arrested on suspicion of numerous crimes following a 911 hangup call.

According to North Platte Police, at around 11:53 p.m., on March 19, officers responded to a 911 hangup call in the 1000 block of South Tabor Street.

Police say officers arrived on the scene but were unable to get anyone to answer the door.

Police say the officers heard a female voice coming from inside the apartment, sounding distressed.

Based on probable cause, police say officers made entry into the apartment and made contact with a female who was "upset and crying," and William Dimas.

Police say officers observed Dimas holding onto the female before he retreated into a bedroom. Officers were able to detain Dimas, without incident, pending further investigation.

According to police, the female told officers that Dimas was asked to leave the property but refused. She stated that she called 911 for assistance, but hung up.

Police say the victim stated that her actions upset Dimas who then tackled her to the ground, punched her in the head and bit her.

The victim told police that she began screaming for help, but Dimas covered her mouth and nose with his hand, restricting not only her screams but also her breathing.

Police say as the alleged assault took place, a young child was present and witnessed the event.

Officers determined that there was probable cause to arrest Dimas on suspicion of 3rd-degree domestic assault, 1st-degree false imprisonment, strangulation and child abuse.

Dimas was transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center and jailed pending an appearance in County Court.
