TECUMSEH, Neb. (AP) - Four staff members were injured by two inmates at the Tecumseh prison in southeast Nebraska, authorities said.
The melee occurred Saturday morning in a cell when an inmate refused a search and appeared to be dumping homemade alcohol into a toilet, the Nebraska Correctional Services Department said in a news release. The staffers used pepper spray on him when he wouldn't let them into the cell, the department said, and another inmate in the cell punched a staffer in the head.
The inmates kicked, punched and kneed staffers before being restrained.
The four staffers were taken to a hospital and treated for scrapes and bruises. One was diagnosed with a concussion, the department said.
The names of those involved haven't been released.
