North Platte Public Schools make 'difficult decision' to cancel prom

Posted Apr 01, 2020 11:10 PM

From NPPSD Superintendent Dr. Ron Hanson

As we have continued to monitor the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) updates and changes, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 NPHS Prom.  As of this morning, April 1, 2020, our President, Governor, and Health Officials are extending social and physical distancing guidelines.  These guidelines include an extension in the peak of the virus to May.

We encourage our families to continue social and physical distancing by,

1.       Remaining 6 foot apart

2.       Do not gather in groups of 10 or more

3.       Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with warm soapy water

4.       Practice good hygiene by bathing regularly, washing your clothes, and eating healthy

5.       Set a routine of healthy behaviors such as sleeping, eating, studying, family time, and time outside each day

Again, NPPS continues to be dedicated to providing a healthy and safe learning environment for each of our students, staff, and the families we serve.  While we know this decision will be disappointing to some of you, please keep in mind, we are doing what we feel is best for all involved, given the information we currently have.  Thank you for your support and understanding during these very trying times for us all.
