Ardis was born at Curtis, NE on March 3, 1924, she was the daughter of Carl and Mable Nutt and the eldest of their seven children.  She attended a country grade school and graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture. She could operate any piece of equipment they had on the farm while herding "the five". When she moved to Curtis she loved her work at Green Thumb and Sunset Haven Nursing Home. She always felt they blessed her.
