Gothenburg teen dies in 'shooting incident'

GOTHENBURG, Neb.-A 16-year-old Gothenburg boy is dead in what police are calling a "shooting incident."

According to Gothenburg Police, officers and the Gothenburg Fire Department responded to the report of a gunshot victim at a residence in the 1000 block of Jefferson Street at around 10:23 pm on April 3.

Upon arrival, police say officers found a 16-year-old male unresponsive. 

Police say the boy was transported to the Gothenburg Health Emergency Room before being life-flighted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police say the case remains under investigation and an autopsy is pending at Central Nebraska Forensic Services, in Gibbon.

Police say no further information will be released at this time.
