North Platte man arrested on domestic violence, strangulation accusations

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-A 26-year-old North Platte man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and strangulation.

According to North Platte police, officers responded to a disturbance in the 2300 block of East Philip Avenue at around 8:45 p.m. on April 20.

Police say it was reported that a female could be heard screaming inside a residence at that location.

Officers arrived on the scene and made contact with Edward Blaylock and a female. 

Officers spoke to the female who stated that she and Blaylock had gotten into an argument.

During the argument, police say the victim stated that Blaylock threw her to the ground and place her in a chokehold, restricting her ability to breathe.

Additionally, police say the victim stated that Blaylock slapped her and that the incident took place in the presence of a juvenile.

Following further investigation, officers determined there was probable cause to arrest Blaylock on suspicion of 3rd-degree domestic assault, strangulation and child abuse.

Blaylock was jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
