NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-The number of positive cases of COVID-19 in the six-county West Central District Health Department service area remains at 18.
According to WCDHD Executive Director Shannon Vanderheiden, there are still 18 confirmed cases, all of those have been in Lincoln County.
Of the lab-confirmed cases, Vanderheiden says six have been hospitalized and three have been in a healthcare setting.
According to Vanderheiden, 506 individuals have been tested. There have been no positive tests for first responders, healthcare providers, nursing home staff or residents, group homes or daycares. Officials have conducted 498 tests in Lincoln County, two in Logan County, one from McPherson County, two from Hooker County, and three from Thomas County.
As testing supplies have become more widely available, health officials are encouraging people to get tested.
Vanderheiden said testing is still being conducted in conjunction with Great Plains Health and North Platte Fire and Rescue, and the National Guard will return to North Platte on April 30.
Individuals interested in getting a test need to contact their primary care physician or WCDHD. Vanderheiden strongly encourages individuals who are symptomatic, frontline workers and high-risk individuals to get tested.
Vanderheiden said the National Guard will have spots available to test around 50 people on April 30. Contact WCDHD if you're interested.
