NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-The West Central District Health Department (WCDHD) has reported more confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Lincoln County.

WCDHD Executive Director Shannon Vanderheiden says four additional cases were reported bringing the total in Lincoln County to 29. She says 615 individuals have been tested.

The new cases are a male and a female who are both in their teens, a female in her 30s that is hospitalized, and a male in his 60s who is isolating at home.

Of the 29 positive cases, Vanderheiden says 16 have recovered, two have passed away, one is hospitalized and ten are isolating at home.

According to Vanderheiden, five of the cases are considered travel-related, 12 are from close contact with a COVID-19 positive individual, eight cases are under investigation, and four cases are considered community spread.

"Please let's keep our due diligence on staying at home and isolating," said Vanderheiden.

"I know we are getting to a point where people are getting antsy and are wanting to get out and about, and I think we cannot lose sight that we are seeing an acceleration in cases," Vanderheiden added.

In Nebraska, there are currently 4,281 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19.
