Born April 3, 1927 to Farrell and Orpha Willma (Foust) Bentley in Blanchard, Iowa.
Lived with parents and went to school in Kearney and Scottsbluff, Nebraska and Shenandoah and Blanchard, Iowa.
Lived in Iowa with grandparents Charles and Maude Foust, with sister Jeanne from age 7 to 17. Went to school in Blanchard, Iowa and spent summers in St. Louis with their mother.
Graduated valedictorian from Blanchard Memorial High School in 1944. Went to St. Louis after graduation. Attended Washington University and graduated from Margaret Hickey’s School for secretaries. Went to work for Scruggs, Vandervoot & Barney while still in school. Moved to San Francisco with mother and worked for Equitable Fire and Marine Insurance Company in the financial district.
While in San Francisco met a sailor, a friend from high school, Fred Mullins.
Moved back to St. Louis in 1946 and went to work for Blackwell Weilandy. When Fred was discharged in August of 1946, he came to St. Louis on his way back to Iowa to his family. He came back to St. Louis for Thanksgiving with an engagement ring and found employment there. They were married in Grace Lutheran Chapel in St. Louis on March 8, 1947.
Moved to Scottsbluff, worked for Tallon Audit, later Tallon, Martin & Hill. Moved to Kimball, NE and then to Medicine Lake, MT. Moved back to Scottsbluff, worked at St. Mary Hospital as bookkeeper, for Scottsbluff Public Schools, Nebraska Department of Economic Development, worked in Congresswoman Virginia Smith’s office full time until 1990 when the congresswoman retired. Worked 21 years for A-OK Tax.
Member of the VFW Auxiliary. Enjoyed bowling, swimming, and spending time with children, grandchildren, and friends.
Survivors include son, Morgan Mullins, Scottsbluff; daughters, Rebecca Bartlett, North Fort Myers, FL, Cara (Kent) Priel, North Platte, Melissa Holiday, Lincoln; brother Darrell (Janet) Bentley, Gering; sisters, Elaine Dittman, Lancaster, CA and Jolene Bollacker, Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Angela Heinz, Krista Carpenter, Edward Mullins, Elaine Jones, Dane’ Gallardo, Alex Gallardo, Barbara Falaschi, Brittany Mullins, Emily Mullins, Erinn Mullins, Christopher Holiday; great grandchildren, Justin, Kaela, Sarah, Nicholas, Travis, Destiny, Devon, Ryan, Hunter, Courtnie, Avery, Bronson, Alexandria, Andrew, Emaline, London; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by husband, Fred Mullins; mother and stepfather, Ernest Bangs; father Farrell; stepmother Evelyn Bentley; beloved grandparents, Charles and Maude Foust; sister and best friend, Jeanne (Bentley) Rice; son, Lance Alan Mullins; son-in-law, Jeff Holiday; brothers-in-law ,Frank Rice, Melvin Dittman, Lanning Bollacker; many good-good friends.
Cremation was chosen. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
