UPDATED Alleged stolen vehicle suspect arrested following crash west of North Platte

UPDATE 6/5/20 

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-North Platte Police have released more information regarding the crash of a stolen vehicle on Thursday evening.

At around 5:57 pm, officers responded to the area of West E and Willow Streets and the report of a stolen vehicle.

A female had called police and reported that her vehicle had been stolen by Austin Bordeaux.

A short time later, at around 6:04 pm, officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle injury accident at Rodeo Road and Franklin Road.

Police say witnesses reported that the vehicle driven by Bordeaux failed to stop at a stop sign, entered the intersection and was struck by a westbound vehicle on Rodeo Road.

Officers took Bordeaux into custody on suspicion of theft by unlawful taking ($1,500 to $5,000, driving under the influence of liquor (over .15, 3rd offense) and driving under suspension.

Bordeaux and the occupants of the other vehicle sustained only minor injuries.

Bordeaux was jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-As the weather turned nasty Thursday evening, many residents in the northwest part of North Platte witnessed some additional excitement.

Just before 7:00 pm, North Platte police responded to the report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was spotted by officers and proceeded westbound on Rodeo Road/Highway 30 until the driver eventually crashed near Franklin Road and Rodeo Road.

According to witnesses, the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody immediately and appeared to have numerous lacerations.

As officers investigated the stolen vehicle and subsequent crash, 70-plus mph straight-line winds hit the city, sending officers and witnesses into and behind vehicles.

No injuries were reported other than the alleged driver of the stolen vehicle. His condition at this time is unknown.
