
NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-One man is in custody after North Platte residents awoke to find three men with masks and guns standing in their bedroom.
According to North Platte Police, on June 4, 2020, at 4:21 a.m., officers were called to the 200 Block of North North Park Drive for a disturbance.
Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the residents of the house. The victims stated they were woken up by noises inside the house. One victim stated when she woke up, she observed three unknown males standing in her bedroom. It was reported to officers that the males had masks on and that they were brandishing firearms.
The three males were confronted by the residents and departed without further incident, prior to officers arriving.
Officers were able to view security footage from the home and confirmed that the males were armed with handguns and entered the residence without permission.
During the investigation, officers were able to identify 31-year-old Ted Lewis as one of the male subjects.
On June 5, 2020, at 12:28 p.m., officers were called to a suspicious vehicle in the 500 Block of East Philip. Officers located the vehicle in the alley of the 800 Block of South Chestnut.
At this time, Officers had contact with Lewis who was a passenger in the vehicle. During contact with Lewis, it was observed by officers that he was wearing similar clothing to what was seen on the security footage from the previous incident. Lewis then left the scene and entered a residence in the 800 Block of South Chestnut.
Officers and Investigators with the North Platte Police Department applied for a search warrant for the residence, which was granted. The warrant was served on June 5, 2020, at 4:12 p.m. and Lewis was taken into custody without incident.
Lewis was placed under arrest on suspicion of use of a weapon to commit a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, terroristic threats, and burglary.
Lewis was incarcerated at the Lincoln County Jail.
The Nebraska State Patrol and Lincoln County Sheriff's Office assisted with the search warrant. The investigation is ongoing.
