by North Platte Police Department
Between July 10th and July 31st, The North Platte Police Department in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Highway Traffic Safety Administration will be teaming up with other Law Enforcement agencies to keep drivers and passengers safe, raising awareness of the risks of speeding and reminding drivers to obey speed limits. Additional North Platte Police Officers will be on the streets, with the aim of holding speeding drivers accountable. If Officers see you speeding, you could be pulled over and fined.
According to the Traffic and Safety Administration, in 2021 there were 12,330 people killed in speeding related crashes. Speeding can reduce a driver’s ability to negotiate curves or maneuver around obstacles in the roadway. Speeding also cuts down on the driver’s reaction time giving them less time to react to roadway hazards. The North Platte Police Department asks you to obey the speed limits before speeding Catches Up With You.
