Marilyn Kay Taul of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Linden Court.
Marilyn was born at St. Catherine’s Hospital in McCook, NE on May 22, 1947 to Robert and Gladys (Vaughn) Vontz. She was raised on her family farm in Trenton, NE alongside her siblings. In her youth, she attended Trenton High School and graduated in 1965. On March 17, 1968 she married the love of her life, Jerel Keith Taul. To this union were born their children: Scott, Kristi, and Kari.
Marilyn was known by many as a hard worker and active community participant. In addition to fulfilling her duties as a homemaker and helping her husband on the farm, she was a successful Tupperware saleswoman and party host for forty-seven years. She was also an active member of the Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, the North Platte RSVP, and Trenton Band Parents. In her limited free time, she volunteered at 4-H, helped at her children’s school events, and maintained a thriving flower and vegetable garden.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband Jerry Taul; in-laws Clarence and Ella Taul; brother Robert Jr. (Bobby) Vontz; brothers-in-law Don Taul and Don Cole; sisters-in-law Barb Taul, Margret (Harold) Baker, Doris (Wayne) Hovey, Anita (Henry Jr.) Siitzman, and Joyce (Darrel) Troxel; daughters-in-law Dena Taul and Lori Taul; and best friend Annalea Janousek.
Those left to cherish Marilyn’s memory are her son Scott Taul of Edgewood, TX; daughters Kristi (Mike) O’Neal of Red Oak, IA and Kari (Tracy) Olson of North Platte, NE; sisters Mary (David) Bruun and Madelyn (Rich) McKain; Stepmother, Joan Vontz; grandchildren Steven O’Neal, Stacey (Bryan) Hardy, Austin McFarland, Kira Olson, and Cory Olson; great-granddaughter Sophia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Bob Loghry officiating. Burial will follow at Trenton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July, 31, 2024 from 12 to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 - 7 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
