Rodger W. Jensen, 83, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Great Plains Health Hospital. He was born on June 20, 1940 in Omaha, NE the son of William and Ella (Sorsen) Jensen.
Rodger graduated from Elkhorn High School, and served for a short time in the Marine Corps. He was hired with the Union Pacific railroad and worked for over thirty years as a general electrician foreman until retiring in 2000. He was married in 1978 to Reda Jean (Smith) Fischer in North Platte. Rodger always had an entrepreneurial spirit and ventured into several businesses. He purchased a semi tractor trailer and ran R & R transportation along with his wife Reda until 2018. Rodger loved his pet dogs and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be truly missed by his loved ones and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Brad (Liz) Fischer of Eustis, Brian (Valerie) Fischer of Grand Island, and Gina (Tom) McGahan of Boys Town; grandchildren, Casey (Aaron), Matthew, Bryan, Brianna (Josh), Morgan (Noah), Sam, Robbie, and Amber; great grandchildren, Lauryn, Ryker, Kinley, and Barrett; sister, Barb (Darrell) Robinson; brothers, Gary (Karen) Jensen, and Bill Jensen; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Reda; and a grandson, Liam Fischer.
A celebration of Rodger’s life will be held at a later date. Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
