Renate Irene Nordquist, 86, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away February 7, 2022 at Linden Court.  She was born January 31, 1936 to Hans Paul and Ennie (Eisenblatter) Ifland, in Berlin, Germany.
Renate survived WWII as a child in Germany, living through multiple bombings and air raids.  After her high school graduation in Germany, she came to New York as an exchange student then returned to Germany.  After she returned to Berlin, she met Paul Nordquist who was stationed there with the US Army.  Renate returned to the U.S. and lived in Rochester, New York.  Paul returned to the U.S. after his discharge, he reconnected with Renate, and took her to South Dakota for a visit.  The couple were married on February 14, 1957 in Lake City, South Dakota.  They moved to North Platte, Nebraska in 1958.  Renate was the catering manager at the Holiday Inn where she worked for twenty-one years.  She always wanted a chef, had an opportunity to became a flight attendant, but married Paul instead. 

Renate is survived by her husband Paul, North Platte; children, Rebecca Nordquist (Randy), North Platte, Joel (Mary Beth) Nordquist, Scottsdale, Arizona, Ryan (Kelsey) Nordquist, Phoenix, Arizona, and  Rhett (Tessa) Nordquist, Omaha, Nebraska; brother, Hensel (Anette) Ifland, Passau, Germany;  brother-in-law, Jerry Nordquist, St. Petersburg, Florida; along many other family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Ennie Ifland, and a sister, Heidi Johnston.

Memorials are suggested to the North Platte Catholic School Endowment or PAWS-itive Partners Humane Society of North Platte.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M., February 15, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, North Platte.  Rosary will be at 10:00 A.M. prior to the mass with Father Karl Millis officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.
