Dwain Lee Gunther, aged 85, of Broken Bow, peacefully departed on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center.
Dwain Lee Gunther was born on March 19, 1939, to Cyrus and Eunice (Sevier) Gunther. In 1948, the family moved to the Ash Creek Community southwest of Broken Bow. Dwain attended Broken Bow High School and graduated in 1956. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958 and, after his service, returned to Broken Bow. On October 6, 1958, he married Emma Lou (Patrick) Gunther at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Dwain worked as a butcher at the Packing Plant for many years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and exploring the countryside.
Dwain is survived by his son Randell (Erin) of Chandler, AZ; daughter Tammy Mattox of Broken Bow; son Brad (Margie) of Panama Pacifico, Panama; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Lou, his parents, brother Donald, sister Deloris Hendricks, and two infant sons, Ronald and Dennis.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow, NE. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 13th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary.
