(North Platte, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will resume on Jeffers Street, between the Philip Street intersection and First Street, including the closure of Philip Street west of Jeffers Street, beginning Monday, March 11, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
The west leg of the Jeffers and Philip Street intersection will be closed for both eastbound and westbound traffic. Philip Street will be open between Dewey and Jeffers. Motorists are advised to utilize alternate routes during the closure. The intersection closure is expected to be in place for approximately two (2) weeks.
Paulsen, Inc. of Cozad is the contractor for this project. Work includes reconstructing the pavement, including sidewalks and driveways, as well as a new storm sewer system, street lighting, and traffic signals. Traffic will be maintained with lane restrictions on Jeffers Street, and intermittent side street closures. A 10-foot width restriction will be in effect. Anticipated completion is Aug. 2024.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.
