NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-A North Platte man is in jail accused of stalking his estranged pregnant girlfriend and fighting with police.

According to North Platte police, on May 2 at 6:49 a.m., officers were asked to assist the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office with a possible disturbance.

Officers were advised that a female was being followed by her estranged boyfriend in a vehicle and that they were heading towards North Platte from the Lake Maloney area, after luring her to that location.

Officers observed the vehicles in the 1000 Block of South Dewey and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle but the vehicle failed to stop.

Police said officers observed the male driver pull up next to the female and make numerous gestures and yell towards her.  The suspect vehicle continued to flee and the pursuit continued for several minutes.

Police said the suspect was driving recklessly and the pursuit was terminated near 4th and Poplar Streets for safety concerns.

During the pursuit, officers were able to identify the driver as Cassidy Sullivan, 37, and probable cause was established to arrest Sullivan for operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest.

On May 4, at 1:18 a.m. officers learned that Sullivan was at a residence in the 100 Block of North Sycamore.  Officers arrived and were able to see Sullivan inside.  Officers entered the residence and located Sullivan hiding in a closet.

Police said officers attempted to take Sullivan into custody, but he began to physically resist.  Officers used a Taser and were able to subdue Sullivan and take him into custody.

Sullivan was incarcerated at the Lincoln County Detention Center for operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, and resisting arrest.

Following further investigation, Sullivan was also accused of possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, second-degree domestic assault of a pregnant woman and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony
