
Glen Irwin Lemon, age 89, of North Platte, Nebraska passed way with family close by his side on November 11, 2020, at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte.
Glen was born in Max, Nebraska to Bert and Jessie (Gardner) Lemon on
September 17, 1931, and grew up on the family farm, north of Max. He
graduated from Max High School and continued to farm. While in school, Glen loved playing basketball and later he enjoyed reading, traveling and seeing the country with his neighbor.
On July 23, 1967, Glen married Shirley Catherine Kauffman at the
Benkleman Trinity Baptist Church in Benkleman, Nebraska. They made their home on the family farm and raised two children. In 1987 the Lemon family was honored as a "Family That Farmed For 100 Years" by Aksarben.
Along with farming, Glen loved gardening and planting trees and enjoyed
bowling on a team. He was a member of Max Methodist Church and a past member of Ash Grove Cemetery Board.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Jessie; brother,
Earl Lemon; sisters, Dorothy Humphrey, Opal Humphrey and Hope Morris; and daughter-in-law, Verna Lemon.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; and son, John Lemon (fiancée, Deb
Monson), of North Platte, Nebraska; daughter, Cathy (James) Hassett, of Hershey, Nebraska; sister, Helen (Vern) Shoemaker, of Cawker City, KS; grandchildren,Alisa, Ashley, Abby, Conor, Wyatt and Faith; great-grandson, Bentlee; and other family.
Cremation was chosen and services will be at a later date in Ash Grove
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Max Community Club. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
