News Release

The North Platte Community Playhouse is proud to present "The Canteen Cabaret."

The Canteen Cabaret is a variety-style show of music and theater that will be presented on the Playhouse’s Facebook page.

“We wanted to offer the community music and entertainment while keeping community members safe from spreading Covid-19,” said Tyler Cronin, director of the productions. “The casts of the shows will be small in number—three to four performers. They will follow social distancing precautions as set forward by the West Central Health District.”

A new show will be presented each month from now until May 2021.

“We wanted to re-ignite the canteen spirit of lifting the spirits of others during dark times,” remarked Cronin.

If community members would like to give a free-will donation, they can do so either online or by mailing donations to the playhouse. Funds will be used toward renovations of the historic building. “It is truly a unique venue,” said Cronin, “we want to be able to maintain and care for the theater so it will be there for generations to come.”

The first program, titled “Light,” will premiere Friday, December 18 at 7:00 p.m. Performers are Kristin Simpson, Dylan Rogge, Christopher Terry, and Melissa Mitchell, from NPCC’s Music Department. Mary Lynn Horst will be the accompanist.

More information can be found on the playhouse’s Facebook page.
