Fay 'J.R.' Thompson, III, of North Platte, passed away at home with his wife by his side on September 13, 2021.
Fay was born at Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Alice and Fay Thompson, Jr. on January 17, 1959. He grew up and attended school in Davenport, Iowa, then the family moved to Bell Gardens, California. It was there he met the love of his life, Lynne Hamil. They lived together in Orting, Washington, and later married on May 6, 2002. Since Fay was a truck driver they eventually made his truck their home until moving to North Platte in 2007. He drove for Justa Trucking until 2014 when he retired due to his health.
Fay enjoyed his work and could fix anything on a truck. He liked to read and watch NASCAR racing and drag racing. Fay will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Patricia Musgrove; and grandson, Thomas Findling.
Fay leaves behind his wife, Lynne, of North Platte; their children, Jennifer Hamil, of Dallas, Oregon, and David Thompson, of Puyallup, Washington; grandchildren, Riley, Skylar and Emily Thompson and Heather Householder; great-grandson, Kaleb Householder; and other family.
