Kearney, Neb. – Nebraska Kearney and Colorado Christian fought to a scoreless draw Friday afternoon in Lakewood, Colo.
The Lopers move to 2-1-2 while the Cougars are now 1-2-2. This was the first meeting between the two in 15 years.
CCU had slight advantages in shots, 13-9; shots on goal, 6-4; and corners, 6-4. Four of CCU's corners came in the second half with all of UNK's coming in the first 45 minutes. Finally, the Lopers had six shots after intermission.
Junior Daniella Iaquinta (Aurora, Colo.) had a team-best three shots with freshman Madison McLachlan (Thornton, Colo.) providing two off the bench. Starters Kayla Truong and Danel Hach both had three for the Cougs. In goal, junior Susie Bovaird (Lincoln) had five saves with Christian freshman Kenzie Kunitz stopping two. Finally, defender Madison Province (Kearney) went all 90 minutes.
The Lopers head across town on Sunday to face the Regis Rangers (3-2-0). This will be the fifth all-time meeting between the two and the first since 2011.
